The "Brainiacs" continue their learning of our town.  We spent the day seeing, hearing, and asking questions about many artifacts at the Hartford Historical Society.  Then we enjoyed a local "treasure" the Quechee Gorge.   Again, enjoy the "photos of learning."

Students hike to the bottom of our local "treasure" the Quechee Gorge.

The artifacts were a great hands-on learning experience for all!

So many things to see and learn about!

The WWI Honor Roll was very interesting to all!

Students learn about the Abenaki in our town.

T

There were many comments as students learned in antique student desks.

The hike finished with a visit to Dewey's Pond with many tadpoles to offer the inquiring minds!
The third graders have definitely celebrated their town!

The "Brainiacs" have been busy learning about our town, Hartford.  Then we enjoyed our annual "Whirlwind" field trip around the town.  Students were able to see and experience the places they had learned about and included on their historical pictogram map.

I have included more "photos of learning" of this great learning experience!  Enjoy!

Learning at Wright's tomb.

Information on the tomb.

Mr. Harold Wright, the great great great great grandson of Hartford's first settler, Benjamin Wright. He was able to share many interesting facts about the town. Students asked many thoughtful questions and greatly enjoyed this first-person learning experience.

They found it!  The biggest tree in town!  How did it not get sent back to the King of England with all the other pine trees? Can you find this tree?

Straddle a town line?  Standing in Hartford and Norwich!  Those settlers did like the high mountains!
The one room schoolhouse in the Jericho historic district.  There were many questions, sites to see and old fashioned games to play!

Finish the day with a read aloud about what else than a tree!  An Oak Tree Grows!

The "Brainiacs" have been busy!

Enjoy the "Photos of Learning!"

There has been learning about Force and Motion in science. Students proved their ideas in science by building marble coasters, roller coasters, and Tug of War. Some students accepted the challenge to expand their learning of Newton's Laws of Motion by creating slideshows about the topic and then presenting their work to the class!

Tug of War - Force and Motion

The students learned about diversity as we acknowledged the MLK holiday by choosing a person that represents some form of diversity.  The students researched this person's life, created an informative poster, and then presented this information in the first person at a Diversity Fair.

I hope you enjoyed the "Photos of Learning!"

The "Brainiacs" are busy learning!

Scientists built rollercoasters to learn about force and motion.

Students wrote their "Painted Essay" about the scientific skills they learned during the Mystery Powders unit.

Students created "ABC Quilts" based on aspects of the Red Clover book collection.

I look forward to sharing more "photos of learning!"
